Sophie Ellis-Bextor releases dazzling music video for Disco-Pop anthem ‘Freedom of the Night’
Sophie Ellis-Bextor unveils the vibrant music video for her latest single, “Freedom of the Night,” ahead of her upcoming UK tour. The energetic disco-pop anthem revives the spirit of her iconic “Murder on the Dancefloor” video while celebrating a new chapter in her career. Filmed at London’s Rivoli Ballroom and directed by Sophie Muller, the video captures a competitive dance gala where Sophie plays a fierce “dance mom,” determined to see her fictional daughter win.
The choreography, arranged by Polly Bennett, brings the story to life with a captivating solo dance routine from Sophie, and even features a cameo by a Strictly Come Dancing professional. Sophie noted, “We wanted to continue the ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ story, showing that I’m still the same cunning character, just grown up.”
Her new single, produced in collaboration with Biff Stannard, Duck Blackwell, and Shura, among others, marks a vibrant return to her disco-pop roots. Moreover, “Freedom of the Night” sets the stage for Sophie’s biggest UK headline tour yet, kicking off in May 2025 and culminating at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Fresh off her resurgence with “Murder on the Dancefloor” gaining new global recognition, Sophie continues to captivate fans. With recent sold-out shows across Europe and North America, she’s proving that her love for performing remains stronger than ever.
