Taking a moment during his EDC Orlando set last night, legendary Swedish act Alesso payed a touching tribute for his late friend Liam Payne, as he shared a heartfelt message to the crowd, just before playing their hit collaboration ‘Midnight.’
With the entertainment world and not only still in shock since the sudden passing of One Direction member, Liam Payne, tributes continue to flood in from all corners of the world, and of course, the dance music community has seen a wide range of acts pay their own respects towards Liam Payne and his family. Taking a moment during his set at EDC Orlando last night, legendary Swedish DJ/Producer Alesso paid a touching tribute to his late friend, with both artists having formed a friendship in recent times, and even more through their musical partnership back in 2019 and the release of their single, ‘Midnight.’
Honouring Liam Payne and the lasting legacy that he has now sadly left behind, Alesso made sure to address the crowd on his personal relationship with the One Direction star, and just before he played ‘Midnight’ in Liam Payne’s memory, he shared a touching message on the passing of his dear friend, and how the world has now lost “a very talented musician, human being, and a dear friend of his.” Asking the crowd to turn on their lights whilst Liam Payne’s vocals echoed, and his image appeared at large on the EDC Orlando stage, Alesso hoped for his tribute to reach high above, with the love pouring in its entirety all throughout this highly emotional moment that was shared between Alesso and the crowd at the time, and now with all of us.
Tragically losing his life at the young age of 31, Liam Payne was found dead whilst vacationing in Argentina, having suffered fatal injuries after falling from his hotel balcony. With investigations still ongoing, and new findings on his death emerging in the last few days, we would like to once again offer our condolences to Liam Payne’s family and friends, as well as showcase our support towards Alesso and the touching tribute he made in order to honour a person that was close to him, and will continue to be through both the ever lasting memories that Liam Payne has left behind as a human being firstly, and of course as a musician whose talent had no limitations.
