BT prepares to release updated mix of 2006 album
BT is preparing to look backward into his esteemed catalog to provide an updated remix of a classic album. Through a meticulous process, his 2006 release This Binary Universe will be re-released with a fresh makeover.
When BT delivered This Binary Universe to fans in 2006, it was a confounding piece of work and art. The seven-track collection ebbs and flows across its hour and fourteen-minute runtime, never delivering anything like a standard single but rather introducing themes and movements across the album. 18 years later, it still serves as a groundbreaking release, showcasing the producer’s incredible talent for ambiance and emotion. When first released, it was seen as a pioneer in multi-media productions, being conceived for playback on DTS’s 5.1 surround sound system. As technology has evolved, the 2024 release looks to provide further clarity and distinction to the mix.
Alongside the album, BT also devoted time to upgrading the film project that coincided with the original album, originally given a limited theatrical release in 2006. The updated film has been re-rendered to 4K to provide incredible detail to the live-action and computer-generated vignettes of the film. Set to hit streaming services on December 6th, This Binary Universe will also be given its first official release on vinyl. Fans can pre-order a vinyl record or CD via the Magik Muzik Shop today.
