Daft Punk ‘One More Time’ turns 24; revisit the classic hit
Despite breaking up three years ago, the legacy of Daft Punk continues to loom large across the entire music industry. This year, one of the group’s biggest hits celebrates 24 years since its release.
Few songs can impact a room of listeners the way One More Time by Daft Punk does. Its groovy beats and pseudo-disco rhythms feel timeless and are part of what propelled the track to such heights upon its initial release. Combined with the otherworldly visuals of Leiji Matsumoto for the music video, the track quickly climbed the charts upon its release on November 13th, 2000. Climbing to number 1 on the French singles chart and peaking at 61 on the US Billboard chart, it shined through in an era of nu-metal and pop music.
Built around a sample from More Spell On You by Eddie Johns, Daft Punk expertly spliced up the track to create their melody. Accompanied by the infectious repetition of the track’s title, One More Time lights up listeners on every play. As the group prepares to bring their iconic movie Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem to theaters again on December 12th, the legacy of the French duo and One More Time continues to grow amongst fans worldwide.
