Heaven nightclub in London closed temporarily among serious allegations
The iconic London nightclub, Heaven, is to remain temporarily closed for at least 28 days among serious allegations involving security staff.
Earlier this month, a woman reported being raped near the venue by a member of Heaven’s security staff. The accused guard, who is identified as 47-year old Morenikeji Adewole from Dartford (also goes by Olusolu Alabi) has been arrested and charged with rape. He is currently in custody awaiting trial.
Despite the allegation, further concerns were brought to light as it was reported the other staff members allegedly ignored the victim’s attempts to report the incident, sparking outrage thus leading to immediate response from authorities. Due to this, the Westminster Council suspended Heaven’s operating license for at least 28 days citing public safety as its main reason.
This is not the only reported incident that has involved Heaven nightclub. Earlier this year, back in May, three members of the venue’s security team were filmed assaulting a club-goer.
The management team for Heaven has taken to social media to express their regret, stating that they are “sickened” by the incidents that have allegedly occurred and will be implementing stronger safety measure moving forward. Management has also considered appealing the council’s decision for closure and have emphasized their priority to create a more safe environment to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The nightclub, a beloved space for London’s LGBTQ+ community has been a staple in the community since 1979. While the investigations are still ongoing, the future of Heaven seems uncertain.
