iZotope release Cascadia delay plugin
The latest addition to iZotope’s Catalyst series of plugins is Cascadia, an intelligent delay VST.
The graphical user interface (GUI) remains familiar to iZotope’s recent suite, which includes Plasma and Aurora. Cascadia utilizes spectral unmasking to prevent the delay effect from crowding the mix. The plugin analyzes incoming audio and efficiently suppresses conflicting resonances in its delay path. It functions like a delay plugin combined with the capabilities of Wavesfactory Trackspacer.
Achieving proper placement of effects like reverb and delay can be challenging when multiple audio elements are present. Cascadia offers an elegant solution to such mixing challenges. The plugin responds in real time, making it easier to dial in the perfect settings while working through a mix.
The plugin features a streamlined control set, which is advantageous for users. An “unmask” slider operates like a ratio control: increasing its value results in greater spectral ducking. The sensitivity control acts like a threshold, allowing precise adjustment of the effect’s response to different input levels.
On the left side of the GUI, users will find controls for delay timing (synchronized to host tempo or set in milliseconds), along with feedback and width sliders.
