Hailing from Rovigo in Italy, Rimbano provides listeners with a new perspective on house music, and through his ability of blending percussive sounds alongside next gen elements, and of course, remaining true to the bass, fans alike are in for a treat every time a new release has come to life. Pushing the boundaries of his preferred house genre, we could not be any more thrilled to be joined by the man of the moment, as he opens up on main inspirations and influences, the development of his signature sound, garnering support from elite acts within our community, creating his hit single ‘Safada,’ his favourite collaboration to date, future plans and so much more.
Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?
“Hello, thanks for having me! When I started making music back in 2018, I was doing it in a completely different genre than now, but then in 2021 I discovered house music and fell in love with it. This led me to signing tracks on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, on Spinnin Records’s sub-label Sink Or Swim and eventually finding my niche in Latin Tech House.”
With Latin Tech House your prominent genre of choice, we would like to know how your signature sound came to be, as well as the impact this musical approach has had on your career thus far?
“Latin Tech House is definitely the genre that helped me the most in finding my place in the industry, not because it is trendy right now, but because I have developed a signature sound that comes from a fusion of elements from various cultures, which makes my productions stand out in such a saturated market. People are usually afraid of being different, but this is what actually helped me get supported worldwide and get signed to renowned labels.”
Following a certain creative process for both solo productions and collaborations, could you provide us with an overview on how each of your tracks come to life, and how significant this process has been in the development of your style of play?
“As for solo productions I rarely go with the flow, I often start by imagining the final product and the impact it will have on the dance-floor, so I carefully pick all the elements in order to get to the idea I had in mind at the beginning. As for collaborations, I always try to implement my signature sound in them without overly manipulating the other producer’s work, in order to have a balanced product that showcases the best of our styles.”
Garnering support from elite artists in the dance scene this year, we would like to know how rewarding such recognition can be, as well as your own view on the success you have achieved all throughout 2024?
“Every time I find a video of artists like John Summit, Cloonee and Gordo playing my tracks, I feel like all the effort put in making music has paid off! Being supported by them helped my music reach a massive audience, as well as getting on the radar of new labels I’m working with right now. 2024 has been a year full of support on my music, but next year will be even crazier.”
Making waves with your hit single ‘Safada,’ could you talk us through the main process behind its production, as well as the impact it has had in regards to the success you have received in recent times?
“When I started making ‘Safada,’ I didn’t want to produce the usual Latin Tech House track with an overused vocal and cheesy drums, so I opted for Brazilian funk vocals and percussion’s over a groovy bassline. Andruss was the first person to believe in it, since after playing it at EDC Las Vegas he wanted to sign it on his label Drop Low Records. Cloonee also played it at Cocorico in July, and Andruss kept playing it all summer in his Europe and US tours. Even today I still receive videos of it being played in clubs and festivals, so I’m really proud of it.”
Collaborating alongside Nautik and Tunin Slow on the release of ‘Tranki,’ we would like to know the significance of this track for you, any lessons gained throughout this collective work, and the overall feel behind the creation of this certified hit?
“’Tranki’ is one of my favourite collaborations I have worked on. Nautik and I started exchanging ideas for a track together until we found the right one, which had a vocal that I particularly liked. I sent him all the material and after a few days he sent back a new version of the track with a new vocal on top, sung by the Madrid based rapper Tunin Slow, which I liked even more. This helped me understand that sometimes collaboration brings totally different perspectives, leading to new discoveries that can take a track to the next level.”
Bringing the heat with each of your live performances, could you provide us with an insight on the characteristics of your sets, and how your DJing approach has played a significant role in your ascendancy within the dance scene?
“My DJ sets can be described as vibrant, full of different rhythms and grooves, but above all, full of unreleased music and never heard before tracks. In my “Power Rave” mix series on SoundCloud I showcase my latest productions along with unreleased tunes that Latin Tech House producers send me to premiere them. This way my sets gained more and more traction, so much so that Wenzday had me as a guest on an episode of her radio show “Everyday Is Wenzday,” which aired in May on Insomniac Radio.”
With 2024 now coming to a close, we would like to know what the future holds for Rimbano, always in terms of new music, upcoming collaborations and live performances?
“I’m currently in the studio producing lots of new music for 2025 alongside talented producers like GREG (BR) and Juos, but I already have new releases planned on Kevin McKay’s label Glasgow Underground and Las Vegas based Intentions Records. As for live shows, I’m planning many international performances, so see you somewhere in the world soon!”
A fast-rising star within the dance scene, Rimbano is well and truly on his way towards global dominance, and we of course, are all for it.
