Steve Angello premieres new music on BBC Radio 1 mix
Providing his first solo BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix since 2013, Steve Angello gave fans a treat with plenty of unreleased tracks, including two of his own. Throughout the two-hour program, Angello showcased plenty of incredible tracks and moments for fans to digest.
With the Swedish House Mafia fully reformed and back in action, its three members seem to be working overtime to fulfill the commitments for the group as well as their solo endeavors. Steve Angello has always been prominent with his release and performance schedule, while also overseeing his imprint, SIZE Records. Having recently shared his latest single, Hooligans, it now seems he has several more productions already lined up for release. While making his first solo BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in over a decade, the Swedish producer shared not one but two new tracks with listeners.
Opening the set is one of the unreleased and so far unheard tracks from Steve Angello, Darkness In Me. Featuring Modern Tales, the track is synth-heavy and builds slowly before a poppy vocal and lead come in, set on top of a driving bass and percussion. The lead and vocals provide a bit of nostalgia, reflecting the early Spiderman theme song and classic spy era sounds. The other new debut is one that Angello has played in his sets but only now was it revealed who was behind the track.
Working with BRØMANCE, You Can Dance opens with a swirling lead and driving percussion, before the bass comes and provides real body to the production. A layer of synths and keys overtake the bass, as the track continues to build towards its crescendo, and finally a rushed vocal sample cuts in before the full force of the drop takes over. Although Steve Angello hasn’t revealed any release dates for the two tracks yet, his inclusion of them in the mix hopefully means they are coming soon. In the meantime, both tracks and many others can be listened to via Steve Angello’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.
