We Rave You returns with another round of House & Techno Picks, spotlighting artists making their mark in the music scene. From energetic house tracks to hypnotizing techno signatures, it is time to refresh your playlists as we gear up for upcoming festivals such as Por Que No? in Tulum on January 3-4, 2025. This edition features GNDHI, Daijo, CURLYHEADS, VelcroCompanion, Matroda, Boogie Lights, and Robot Sunrise.
GNDHI – “Bangalore”
GNDHI, the eclectic artist and multi-instrumentalist releases “Bangalore.” Renowned for pushing boundaries and infusing global soundscapes, GNDHI delivers a club anthem that embodies the lively essence of his hometown. “Bangalore” showcases GNDHI’s mastery in integrating cultural motifs with electronic music, combining South Indian Konnakol vocal rhythms to create a unique experience like no other. The track kicks off with intricate melodies and an energetic baile influence. GNDHI’s versatility is highlighted throughout, with his artistry taking center stage. As its name suggests, “Bangalore” serves as a tribute to his roots, encapsulating the city’s pulse through pure experimentation. Pulling inspiration from Afrobeat, Baile funk, and trap, GNDHI effortlessly incorporates these styles into his production elements. Following the success of previous singles such as “Move On,” “BULLSHXT” and even releasing his very own live set video experience on YouTube, he continues to explore new frontiers with his latest single. While many artists have been rinsing his tunes across major festivals such as Ultra Japan, Coachella, Lollapalooza, and EDC. With a lineup of future releases already in the works, GNDHI solidifies his place as one of the most exciting and influential artists of the year. Daijo – “Echoes Creep”
Daijo is back with his latest masterpiece, “Echoes Creep,” set for release on October 24, 2024. Known for his unique approach to electronic music, the Canadian/Persian artist delivers a track that immediately attracts listeners with hard-hitting basslines, dark, atmospheric vocals, and an immersive energy that pulls you deep into his world of pure sound design.
“Echoes Creep” offers more than just a dance floor anthem, it blends euphoric rhythms, fast-tempo sound, and emotive signatures all into one. CURLYHEADS & VelcroCompanion have dropped their mesmerizing new single, “SAVE ME,” released under the prestigious S&S Sound House—a label helmed by the tech house duo Smith & Sorren. This track seamlessly blends tech house with melodic techno elements, creating a captivating and moody atmosphere. Its dark, magnetic vibe offers an experience that feels both spiritual and edgy, striking a chord with fans of underground club culture.
“SAVE ME” takes listeners on an immersive journey through the depths of electronic dance music, where hypnotic rhythms and intricate melodies collide. Cinnedi – “Rush“
After the incredible success of her “Seven Deadly Sins” project, Cinnedi (formerly O Cinnedi) steps into a brand new era, embracing futuristic, dystopian beats that redefine her sonic identity. Known for her brooding yet high-energy take on bass music, Cinnedi is ready to expand her world. No longer confined to her past, this new phase is characterized by unapologetic techno sounds and an exhilarating exploration of 128 BPM. “Rush,” her latest single, encapsulates all the dark techno energy you could hope for, brimming with deep, dystopian soundscapes and atmospheric synths. This track perfectly introduces Cinnedi’s new aesthetic—elevating her craft into a forward-thinking dimension of electronic music that resonates with a futuristic and edgy vibe.
Matroda – “Late Night Talks” EP
Croatian-born DJ and producer Matroda has cemented himself as a powerhouse in the global dance music scene, driven by his innovative and genre-defying “Matrodasound.” This unique style combines elements of house with the refined technique of a classically trained musician, boasting expertise on the violin, drums, and keyboard. Drawing inspiration from the raw energy of Led Zeppelin to the timeless elegance of Frank Sinatra, Matroda’s music is a fusion of edge, innovation, and nostalgic charm that captivates listeners worldwide. His distinctive sound has not only defined his personal artistry but has also propelled his label, Terminal Underground, to new heights in 2024. This year, Matroda showcases his creative peak with the release of his seven-track EP, Late Nights Talks, a testament to his mastery of the tech house genre.
The EP kicks off with “Britney”, a track that Matroda premiered at EDC Las Vegas, featuring electrifying vocals by Dances that guide listeners through each exhilarating drop. The energy continues with “Came To The Club” and “Down” (a collaboration with INDECK.), where minimalistic vocal use allows the groovy, funk-infused basslines to take center stage, delivering infectious rhythms that keep bodies moving. Another standout, “When The Bass Kicks In,” sees Matroda teaming up with fellow Terminal Underground artist Teko to create a pulsating tech house anthem. With its irresistible beat and clean, minimalist vocals, the track encapsulates the high-energy vibe Matroda is celebrated for. Matroda’s EP definitely shows off his creativity and full on technical precision like no other.
Boogie Lights – “Keep The Funk”
Boogie Lights, the Denver-based DJ-producer-multi-instrumentalist known for reimagining disco and house through a funk lens, is gearing up to release his debut album DISCO DANCE THERAPY. Known for his feel-good live shows, Boogie Lights blends DJing with energetic drumming and a youthful, carefree vibe – resulting in unforgettable live music experiences that have resonated with audiences nationwide. Hailing from Rochester, NY, he began his music career drumming for the funk band Soul Junction in college before moving to Denver in 2017 to pursue a solo career. Over the years, he has left a lasting impression on the Denver music scene, The versatile artist drops the LP’s second single “Keep The Funk,” an energetic track that aims to revive a funk spirit within the new wave of tech-house music. A groovy anthem featuring contributions from The Boogie Bunch guitarist Rix (Ricky Feria), “Keep The Funk” masterfully blends live instrumentation with a pulsating house beat and a sample from the YouTube video “What Does Funk Mean? Prince Theory” by the channel ‘Prince’s Friend.’
“Keep The Funk” begins with a tech-house four on the floor rhythm that draws listeners through an exploration of funk music’s core elements. The song prominently features altered vocals from Eloy Lasanta, the creator of the ‘Prince’s Friend’ YouTube channel, as he delves into the essence of funk and its distinction from electronic music. With permission from the YouTube creator, Boogie Lights transforms his voice to guide listeners on a sonic voyage while toeing the line between these two genres.
Robot Sunrise – “The Underground”
Visionary DJ/producer/multi-instrumentalist Robot Sunrise, the solo project of LA-based artist Danny Klein, is carving out his own space in the melodic techno scene with a unique blend of hypnotic rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes, inviting listeners deeper into a world where freedom and self-expression reign supreme. The world-building maestro releases another new single, “The Underground” – a melodic psy-tech anthem for the dreamers who don’t fit into society’s prescribed box. The track’s euphoric energy mirrors the journey of Robot Sunrise’s characters, who yearn for freedom from the confines of their world. As the characters break free from their limitations, “The Underground” serves as the soundtrack to their transformation, with dance music as the catalyst for their emancipation. Opening with a hazy, ethereal build-up, “The Underground” dives into a punchy, thumping techno beat that sets the stage for the sonic journey ahead. Pulsating bass tones, piercing synth progressions, sizzling hi-hats, and hypnotic vocals contribute to the track’s expansive soundscape. As it unfolds, the track mirrors the awakening of Robot Sunrise’s characters as they break free from oppression and forge their own path.
