You Liang’s latest EP, “Cycles,” represents a refreshing addition to the melodic house music genre. This three-track release (out now on Eightball Records) is a cohesive and remarkably soothing musical work. Beyond her production skills, You Liang’s vocal contributions further elevate the EP’s distinctive character. The EP even charted 18th on deep house on Traxsource. Let’s take an indepth look at “Cycles”.

1. Cycles

The composition begins by highlighting intricate melodies and chord progressions. Drums are gradually introduced, with carefully layered foley elements creating a soothing sonic texture. During the breakdown, vocal elements seamlessly integrate, elevating the track’s emotional depth. A subtle arpeggiated sequence strategically prepares listeners for the upcoming musical progression. The meticulously crafted melodies align perfectly with the track’s overall aesthetic, making it an excellent addition to contemporary electronic music playlists.

2. Cycles (Dub Mix)

The dub mix is strategically made for dance floor environments. You Liang has reimagined the track with a more dynamic approach, introducing a groovy, sub-bass-heavy bassline. Drum elements have also been modified to further fit the dance floor. Cant wait to hear this live soon possibly at an Anjunadeep Open Air.

3. Cycles (Instrumental Mix)

The instrumental mix is perfect for lounge music or, in fact, for easy listening by those who prefer an instrumental vibe without vocal interference. The overall mixdown across all three tracks is expertly executed.

You Liang’s musical journey began in 2014 at Keio University, where she performed as a tenor in an acapella group. By deeply exploring musical harmony and structure, You Liang developed essential skills that would later inform her transition into music production, initially focusing on hardcore music within the BMS (Bemani Music Scene) community.
