MØ unveils powerful cover of Avicii’s dance classic ‘Wake Me Up’: Listen

Blessing fans alike with quite the cover, Danish singer/songwriter MØ has paid tribute to her dear friend and dance music legend, Avicii, with her very own reimagination of the Swedes iconic dance classic, ‘Wake Me Up.’ An anthem for the ages, this melodic and country-infused house single was elevated courtesy of the stunning vocals by Aloe Blacc, creating that feeling of euphoria throughout its entirety. Staying true to the original, MØ has added her own unique touch with this latest cover, as her raw and powerful vocals, make for a fresh new twist to one of Avicii’s most groundbreaking of productions.

Having worked together on the release of ‘Dear Boy‘ back in 2013, a friendship was instantly formed, as both artists would share a passion for music, a passion to perfect their craft in a manner that is is truly spectacular. Achieving just that, MØ goes into greater detail on the impact that the late Avicii and his music has had on herself as a person, as well as on her career within music, as “Avicii’s music and life story has touched me deeply over the years,” whilst “in 2012 in New York City at a weird rooftop party and to the tones of ‘Levels’, something about the unapologetic, almost aggressive energy mixed with a haunting emotional depth made me make up my mind to follow my dreams of becoming an artist, whatever the cost.”

Following her most recent collaboration in the form of ‘Who Said‘ alongside LCD Soundsystem and Nick Sylvester, MØ’s cover of ‘Wake Me Up’ perfectly illustrates her admiration towards Avicii himself, whilst at the same time, provides us with a further insight on the undeniable musical prowess that she possesses, and how she is most certainly on her own path, a path that leads to a legendary status as well.
