Steve Angello & Laidback Luke’s iconic anthem ‘Show Me Love’ turns 16 years old
The iconic rework from Steve Angello and Laidback Luke of the original Robin S. track, ‘Show Me Love,’ turns 16 years old.
When you explain the history of electronic music, there are certain tracks and artists that you have to include in the story. Two of those artists consist of Swedish producer Steve Angello and Filipino-Dutch producer Laidback Luke. Together, they created one of those tracks that will forever stand the test as their 2008 rework of Robin S.’ track, ‘Show Me Love Me,’ turns 16 years old.
Released on December 12th, 2008, through the label Happy Music, this song has been a staple in many DJ’s sets since. Taking pieces from the original of 1993 and also including re-recorded vocals from Robin S, Angello and Luke do a tremendous job of bringing an iconic melody into the modern dance scene. The two added their progressive house influence inside the track, and thus, a rework became an instant classic. The production on ‘Show Me Love’ has made it one of the cleanest-sounding tracks of the past decade. From the hi-hats, snare hits, kicks, and atmospheres, this song is a beautiful listen and also very anthemic. Of course, the highlight of the track comes in the first 30 seconds, as a mysterious atmosphere sits underneath the incredible vocals of Robin S., and then that iconic melody comes in that has become so beloved as a part of Angello’s shows.
‘Show Me Love’ is one of Angello and Luke’s biggest singles of their careers. Generating a multitude of remixes, and also charting in Australia, Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, and Scotland, and even hitting the #1 spot on the dance charts in the United Kingdom. It has earned over 155 million streams on Spotify and nearly eight million views for the music video on YouTube.
