3LAU faces massive backlash after DJing at the Donald Trump inauguration

3LAU’s latest exploits did not go unnoticed as he has faced immense backlash from deadmau5, Darude, and many others after DJing the inauguration of the United States’ president Donald Trump.

On the 20th of January, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the new president of the United States. Among all the other high-profile celebrities and politicians, a member of the dance music scene was present at the ceremony. That very man is 3LAU. The New York-born DJ and producer, who has been active since 2013, DJed the inaugural ball in what he described as an “achievement unlocked”. Little did he know that that same act would spark a massive uproar among numerous DJ colleagues and supporters of the electronic music scene. In a sea of relatively mixed comments, names like Deadmau5 and Darude specifically stood out. The former, though, did not hold back with his comment.

Deadmau5, in his typical fashion, left no prisoners with his comment :

“Here’s the best takeaway, not a single person in that entire dumb – administration has ever known who the f- you were, cared about you, or even gives the remotest sh- about you, and you certainly won’t be remembered by any of ’em. But everyone in this business will remember that you stood behind nazis and convicted felons who would further marginalize the very people who gave you a platform. What very little respect I had for you is gone. So glad you got some drink tickets out of the deal, enjoy them, you nepo pissbaby.”

In response to the aggressive comment by the Canadian titan, 3LAU wrote on January 24th on X that he is “a proud American” and that he doesn’t regret performing at the inauguration ball. Instead, he said that his “pride should not be used as a vessel for other people’s anger”.

Although the majority of the audience is against 3LAU’s actions, there is a respectable number of those who support the DJ and producer in his exploits. What will unfold in the days or weeks coming is yet to be seen. We’re curious to hear your opinion on this matter. Let us know in the comments down below.
