Avicii’s music catalog sees surge in streaming after ‘Avicii: I’m Tim’ release
Following the release of the highly-anticipated documentary Avicii documentary I’m Tim on Netflix, the Swedish icon’s catalog saw a massive streaming increase.
The emotional, and lately controversial Avicii documentary I’m Tim has sparked immense interest in his music catalog on streaming platforms. Bear in mind, since the heartbreaking passing of the Swedish icon back in April of 2018, his music barely left people’s playlists and radio waves worldwide. However, ever since the documentary came out on the 31st of December last year, the streaming numbers of Avicii’s music have simply skyrocketed.
According to Billboard, Avicii’s global streaming numbers have risen by 63.9 percent. Some of his most well-known songs such as Wake Me Up, Hey Brother, and The Nights have enjoyed the biggest growth. It is also worth noting that even though Avicii died almost 7 years ago, he still has roughly 37 million monthly listeners on Spotify. That number means he is the 111th most-played artist on Spotify currently which is a remarkable feat. According to Forbes, all 3 of Avicii’s albums have entered the United Kingdom’s Official Dance Albums Chart. His sophomore work True ranks at number 6, his sophomore album Tim sits at number 11, and his 2015 album Stories is sitting firmly in 22nd.
Even after all these years, it is still heartwarming to see Avicii being embraced by the electronic music community. With so much surrounding him nowadays even after his death, it is impossible to forget the legacy of one of the best Swedish musicians of all time. If you want to know more about his life, Avicii: I’m Tim is now available to watch on Netflix.
