Following a stellar 2024, we take a wider look into fast-rising star TATE SEDAR, the birth of the “post-EDM” concept and his rebrand, as well as the releases that helped shape his year.

Continuing his ascendancy within the dance scene in the most immersive of manners, TATE SEDAR is the epitome of an act that has dedicated his life into mastering his craft on the constant, whilst his attention to detail most certainly helps him in standing out from all the rest. Redefining what electronic music can be, the San Francisco-born DJ/Producer embarked on a “post-EDM” rebrand, with his sole focus evolving around the endless possibilities that are presented within our community, and on how the sound(s) of the past still play a significant role in the creation of music that directly resonates with the soul. Following a truly stellar 2024, TATE SEDAR enhanced his status with each and every one of his endeavours, including major milestones such as the radio-play received for his track ‘Our Goodbye’ alongside Liv Kennedy, breaking 100k streams for two releases on Spotify, performing eight shows with a first headline spot in five years in San Francisco, releasing six original tracks and seven remixes/mashups and showcasing all of those releases at the end of the year direct supporting R3hab at Avalon Hollywood during NYE Weekend (set HERE).

Reimagining progressive house with his last single of 2024, ‘Coming Home (I. M.U)’ (standing for ‘I Miss You’) acts as the most fitting of releases to bring this awe-inspiring year to a close, acting as a clear indicator of what is to come by this artist to watch. Elaborating the passion towards his hometown, ‘Coming Home’ evokes a raw feeling and affection to San Francisco that will forever remain imprinted in his heart. Cementing his identity once more, the track incorporates a vast array of musical elements that lead to a truly euphoric production, whilst its infectious melodies, stunning female vocals, and radio-welcoming soundscape, make for an end product that will have listeners hooked in its entirety.

“Post-EDM” – A wider look into TATE SEDAR’s musical rebrand
On a mission to evolve his sound all throughout 2024, TATE SEDAR found himself drawing back to what is now referred to as the “golden age of EDM,” with the music of the past resonating directly with what he has strived to achieve all throughout his career within our community. Defined as a progressive style of electronic dance music that draws from sounds of the EDM era (2010-20) and prior while using analog & digital instrumentation, “post-EDM” came to life back in March with his first release of the year, a remix of ‘Oh Caroline‘ by English pop-rock band, The 1975. Reflecting on himself, “post-EDM” revolutionises the perception of the past and the present, with its fusion making for a sound that is well and truly one for the books. Coming to life through an ideology that reflects directly on the evolution of music in this day and age, and on how what was once considered to be great, can still impact the know hows of today, “post-EDM” perfectly captures the endless possibilities that arise within the dance scene and not only, making for a sound that is quite simply put, extraordinary.

Originals

‘San Francisco’
The first original release of 2024, ‘San Francisco‘ pays homage towards TATE SEDAR’s birth place, whilst also captures the essence of both innovation and nostalgia. A stunning tribute to the sound(s) that helped pave his career with the dance scene, this single perfectly embodies the “post-EDM” concept, as well as taking listeners on a musical journey that TATE SEDAR is deeply and rootly connected with.


‘Wish I Could’
A tech-house production for the ages, ‘Wish I Could‘ arrived at the most fitting of times, with this highly-energetic and ever-so infectious production, acting as yet another illustrator towards TATE SEDAR’s versatile nature. Garnering traction on the socials, and on Tik Tok videos when being precise, ‘Wish I Could’ perfectly embodies that fusion between the past and present, making for a certified hit.

‘Emotions (ft. P$YCHEDELIC)’
Surpassing 100k streams on Spotify, TATE SEDAR’s ‘Emotions‘ alongside rising rapper P$YCHEDELIC made for a summer anthem like no other, with each musical element combining in a manner that is truly outstanding. A “post-EDM’ production that was three years in the making, ‘Emotions’ will have you hooked in its entirety.

‘Our Goodbye’ – TATE SEDAR & Liv Kennedy
An upbeat production that has left audiences hooked ever since its release, ‘Our Goodbye‘ alongside singer/songwriter Liv Kennedy makes for TATE SEDAR’s first track of the year to surpass 100k streams on Spotify, as well as garnering further traction through the radioplay that has been received since its release.

Overload
An electrifying production in every sense of the word, ‘OVERLOAD‘ captures TATE SEDAR’s endless musical capabilities, and as he reflects on the means to overcome technological and personal adversities in 2024, this invigorating release will have anyone hooked in its entirety.

‘Coming Home (I.M.U)’
Bringing TATE SEDAR’s 2024 review to a close, we take a look back into his final single of the year, which is none other than ‘Coming Home (I. M.U).’ A euphoric single that will have listeners hooked all throughout, this progressive house masterpiece acts as a clear illustrator towards everything that this artist to watch has set out to achieve, whilst his love and passion towards his homeland is evident once more. The perfect way to close out a spectacular 2024, ‘Coming Home (I. M.U)’ is more than set on leaving a lasting impact within the dance scene, and we of course, are all for it.

Kick-starting 2024, TATE SEDAR’s remix of “Oh Caroline” by The 1975 was the first actual release of the year introducing his “post-EDM,” intertwining elements of modern dance music and electronic rock.

Igniting a vast array of emotions throughout this scintillating, official remix, ”My Fire (TATE SEDAR Remix)’ by Titus1 cannot go amiss, opting for the ultimate combo of bass and electro house. A month later with his distinct touch to yet another immense single, TATE SEDAR delivered a remix of ‘Cutting Loose’ by Disco Lines, J. Worra and Anabel Englund in the most emphatic manners. This rendition boasted distorted guitar leads in post-EDM fashion into modern techno.


Transcending the original track into a tasteful amalgamation of electro house, dubstep and even techno, SEDAR‘s remix of ‘Shiver’ by John Summit and Hayla has left a lasting impact ever since its release, with the man of the moment perfectly capturing the essence of the original, but at the same time, elevating it to even further heights through his own unique approach towards production. This one even comes with its own video:

Fusing tech-house and techno in the most immersive of manners, SEDAR’s remix of ‘Eat Sleep’ by Kx5, the GRAMMY-nominated duo project of Deadmau5 and Kaskade, makes for a truly groundbreaking release, one that takes his rebrand to a whole new level, as his unique vision fuses perfecttly with the greatness of the original.

Mashups

Bringing the absolute heat with his ‘REQUEST Baddadash*’ mash-up, TATE SEDAR found the perfect match for Knock2’s remix of mega DnB hit ‘Baddadan’ by Chase & Status with Ray Volpe’s recent summer repeater “SONG REQUEST” and the VIP of Nakhonethap’s original tastemaker track: “dashstar*.” The edit climbed to #11 on the Hypeddit Bass House Chart. A video online of the mash-up features SEDAR after a wedding joining colleague Downlowd in playing the mash-up in an underground LA rave, which has amassed over arondd .5m plays across all social platforms.

Once Nakhonethap also released his highly anticipated “hold my hand” with Sophia Gripari before the close of the year, SEDAR continued to combine this bass house singalong with progressive house in the most jaw-dropping of manners in his “When You Hold My Hand” mash-up. This edit blend’s “hold my hand” with festival crowd belter and honorable mention in the catalogue of Afrojack (one of SEDAR’s influences): “When You’re Gone (ft. Jewelz & Sparks & Esther Dean)”
