Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, was one of the most prolific electronic music producers of this generation. Though he is no longer with us after his early passing, his music continues to inspire music producers and enthusiasts worldwide. A documentary dedicated to the life of this massively talented producer has recently been released on Netflix and is trending among electronic music fans globally. What made his music unique were the melodies. His understanding of catchy melodies remains unmatched to this day. If you’re looking for the list of plugins, software, and gear used by Avicii to create his tunes, you’ve come to the right place. We’ll break down his studio arsenal and suggest modern alternatives to his studio essentials.

Primary DAW: FL Studio

Avicii was an FL Studio user, one of the most popular DAW choices to this day. In an interview with Image Line (parent company of FL Studio), Tim highlighted “I was introduced to FL through a friend and was hooked instantly. It’s so easy and quick to use so after my first project (remixing an old Commodore 64 game called Lazy Jones, later known as Avicii – Lazy Lace), I literally couldn’t shut the program down. Even today – two years and a lot of tracks behind me – it’s still my main production software.

FL Studio has evolved a lot since Avicii’s demise. You can explore the features of the latest FL Studio version here.
