ANOTR take a bold step forward with their second album, On A Trip, set for release on January 31 via their imprint No Art. Blending indie dance, disco, alt-soul, and house, the album reflects themes of self-discovery and deep connection, marking their most personal and experimental work to date.

A Psychedelic Creative Journey: How Mushrooms Shaped the Album

Written and recorded during psychedelic retreats in Ibiza, Los Angeles, and the Netherlands, the album emerged from creative sessions fueled by microdosing psilocybin mushrooms. This approach freed ANOTR from their club-focused house roots, leading them to embrace live instrumentation and record their own vocals for the first time. Tracks like ‘SET IT ON FIRE’, ‘Care For You’, ‘Bad Trip’, and ‘Living In A Dream’ showcase this evolution.

The album features collaborations with Cimafunk, PAMÉ, Kurtis Wells, Leven Kali, Tyler Daley, and Erik Bandt. Previously released singles ‘24 (Turn It Up)’, ‘How You Feel’, and ‘SET IT ON FIRE’ hinted at their expanding sonic palette. Meanwhile, the disco-infused focus track ‘Currency’ and alt-soul single ‘Care For You’ further highlight their artistic shift.

This transformation started during the COVID pandemic when ANOTR began hosting creative retreats, a tradition they continue today. “We rent a house in the middle of nowhere, surround ourselves with nature, and invite friends, family, and musicians to connect. The studio is always there when we feel like it, and the music comes from a place of want, not need,” they explain.

On A Trip explores self-discovery, connection, and a new way of seeing the world. “After our last album, making the same music didn’t feel right. So we started every project with a blank canvas, experimenting with tempos and breaking boundaries. It’s about stepping outside our comfort zone again,” they share.

Building a Global Movement: The Vision Behind No Art and Future Plans

Through their No Art label and event series, ANOTR have built a global community, hosting sold-out events in São Paulo, Ibiza, Athens, Miami, and beyond. Looking ahead, they plan to establish a permanent retreat house and studio in the Netherlands, ensuring their creative journey continues to evolve.
