Behringer announces FREE Vintage VST, It’s first ever plugin
Behringer has just announced its first-ever plugin, the Vintage VST, and the best part is: it’s absolutely free.
Hot off the buzz created by Behringer at this year’s NAMM conference, where they unveiled probably the biggest announcement of this year’s expo i.e. the BX-1, Behringer has now announced its first-ever plugin, the VINTAGE. VINTAGE is a synth VST plugin that aims to provide the same warmth as the classic sounds from the 1970s and 1980s. Similar to their line of synths and products, the plugin also mimics the behavior of vintage analog synthesizers. Behringer states that the synth plugin costs $99 but is being offered for free to help the Playing for Change Foundation, which supports music education.
Regarding the technical aspects, it has two oscillators capable of producing basic waveforms including sine, square, saw, noise, and sub-oscillator. Along with the oscillators, there’s also a noise generator with a color knob controlling low-pass cut-off. There are two filters present as well with 12/24 dB switchable low, high and band pass, notch and formant modes, plus selectable drive curves for lush harmonic saturation. In its latest Instagram post, Behringer states that it didn’t want to leave out bedroom music producers and designed something specifically for them so they can enjoy the Behringer sounds within their DAW.
VINTAGE has two LFOs, two amplitude envelopes for panning and leveling along with filter envelope with serial or parallel filtering options. The software comes with 100 presets that recreate both vintage and modern synthesizer tones. While the software is free, users have the option to make donations to support this cause.
