Benke Rydman, the renowned director and choreographer, returns with a groundbreaking production that immerses the audience directly into the action. In this innovative show, the audience not only joins the performers on stage but also experiences the emotional highs and lows of life through dance, live music, and powerful stage art.Furthermore, the performance, titled Lonely Together, features the iconic music of Avicii and blurs the boundaries between performers and audience. Finally, it premieres on August 29 at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.

A Vision of Hope Through Dance and Art

In Lonely Together, Benke Rydman pushes the limits of dance, music, and theatre, creating a shared space for the audience, dancers, and musicians to move freely on the Main Stage. The narrative unfolds around individuals revealing their deepest secrets, each carrying their own pain but also holding onto the hope of a brighter tomorrow. The performance features a live rendition of Avicii’s songs, with talented musicians and vocalists bringing them to life. Additionally, the cast includes Peter Gardiner, Maja Rung, Fredrik and Alexander Lycke, Lisette T. Pagler, and Sofia Papadimitriou Ledarp, alongside a dynamic group of dancers and live musicians.

Fredrik “Benke” Rydman, famous for his work with the dance group Bounce, which revolutionized street dance in Sweden, brings his vision to life through this stage show. Following his work on modern adaptations of classics like Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Rite of Spring, Benke has most recently contributed to Matilda The Musical and the new Jean & Julie.

Avicii Music Reimagined for the Stage

Reflecting on his past collaboration with Avicii, Benke shared, “I had the privilege of working with Avicii on his world tour before he stopped touring. We often spoke about concerts as spaces where people feel free and connected. With this production, I hope to recreate that sense of unity, where the audience, musicians, dancers, and actors can share strength and find hope in each other.”

“My goal is to break down the walls between theatre, concerts, and dance floors, blending them into a single, immersive experience. This is how we will present Avicii’s music, live on stage, in a fresh and exciting way,” Benke Rydman added.
