From the grooviest of House tracks, to the ever-so infectious melodic and progressive sounds, the Bubba Brothers have been shaping their own legacy, and in turn, have been able to amass million of streams, garner support from elite acts, and of course, perform at major stages worldwide. The ultimate of duos, we could not be any happier to be joined by the Bubba Brothers, as they discuss main influences, the origin of their style of play, teaming up with highly acclaimed Portuguese vocalist, Antonio Manuel Ribeiro, on the release of ‘Sinners,’ founding their own label in the form of Mossdeb Sounds, future plans and so much more.
Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you provide us with an insight on the main inspirations/influences that led to your chosen career pathway in music?
“Hi guys and thank you for having us. Carl Cox is our main influence by far, and then Kölsch, Tube and Berger and a few more.”
With versatility a key aspect in the dance scene, we would like to know the origin of your style of play, and how it has evolved over time?
“Our roots are the grooves of old school House that we try to evolve with Latin beats and tribal rhythms. Our process of evolution has brought us to produce lyrics with a message and use our own vocals, so people can identify our sound as soon as possible, thus, creating our own signature.”
Releasing music under the most well-renowned record labels, could you talk us through your rise within the dance scene, and the significance behind the recognition you gain on the constant?
“Getting signed by labels like Spinnin Records and others that will follow this year, is part of the process . It’s a good sign and means that people recognize your work and give you even more energy to do even better.”
Teaming up with the highly acclaimed Portuguese vocalist, Antonio Manuel Ribeiro, on the release of ‘Sinners,’ we would like to know the main thought process behind this production, the message it conveys, as well as the overall feel when working with an artist of such stature?
“It’s a dream come true. Antonio is a legend within the Portuguese music scene, I would risk to say he is our Jim Morrison or Nick Cave. That’s why we choose these intense poetical lyrics about the feelings on the dancefloor and that we are all the same when we are within the beats of the music, therefore, “no losers or winners , just sinners.””
Celebrating your 10th anniversary last year, could you talk us through this milestone, your feature on the cover of Vicious Magazine, as well as the impact such achievements can have on your career?
“That was really a surreal moment. We used to buy the magazine and see all these legends on the cover and then suddenly it was us on the cover.. what a moment that was.. in terms of our career it’s always important in terms of credibility and visibility.”
Founding your own label in the form of Mossdeb Sounds, we would like to know the key values that your imprint portrays, and how beneficial it can be for up and coming artists within the dance scene?
“We want Mossdeb Sounds to be our guarantee of total musical independence and freedom, our highway of creativity. The second step of course, is to launch new talents in Portugal and worldwide.. so that is our goal for 2026 when Mossdeb Sounds has reached a certain maturity.”
With 2025 now in full flow, could you talk us through what the future holds for Bubba Brothers, always in terms of new music, upcoming collaborations and live performances?
“We will go to Ibiza again and play in Spain mainland, France, Germany, Scotland and others and be present in some big festivals. So stay tuned for that. Regarding our music we will come out with our first vinyl in October, with some amazing collaborations and lots of surprises regarding new tracks and labels. We can’t disclose anything at the moment but there are very exciting times ahead for our fans and us. As said.. stay tuned!”
True pioneers within the dance scene, we will most certainly be keeping a close eye on the Bubba Brothers and all their future endeavours within our community, but for the time being, you can stay fully up to date by following them on Facebook, Instagram and Spotify!
