Taking to their social media accounts, Dada Life’s Stefan Engblom shares that he has undergone a successful liver transplant surgery. “The liver transplant went amazing.. they (doctors) said the liver fit perfectly,” Stefan Engblom says

In a heartfelt message shared back in November of 2024, Stefan Engblom, one-half of Swedish electronic duo Dada Life, shared that a liver transplant was a procedure he would must undergo in order to help control the rare incurable disease that he has been suffering from, known as Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PCP). Fast-forward to now, and after having been on the liver transplant waiting list in Sweden, Engblom received the call he eagerly awaited for, and in turn, has just successfully undergone a liver transplant surgery.

Keeping everyone informed along the way, Engblom has faced, as expected, a wide range of adversities throughout the last 1.5 years, as ever since his PCP diagnosis, he had already undergone seven endoscopic retrograde electroencephalography (ERCP) procedures with no success, and with the last two also resulting in pancreatitis and sepsis. These results then led to the decision of a liver transplant surgery, meaning also that as he would await for a suitable donor, he could not travel any further than 1 hour away from Stockholm.

Receiving the news of a suitable liver donor was the first step to recovery, and with the new liver now in place, Engblom has shared that “the liver transplant went amazing,” and “that they (doctors) said the liver fit perfectly.” A response met with great optimism for the future, Engblom also made aware that the first three months after the surgery are the most critical, and as he is now the road towards recovery, he will be taking a two-year hiatus from touring, in the hope that he “can come back as version two of myself and reunite with all of you when the time has come.” A hope we share as well, we would like to wish Engblom a speedy recovery, and full health always!
