Derbyshire woman requests rave for her 105th birthday

One of the beauties of music is how timeless it is for fans and listeners. A woman in England is preparing to turn 105 years old and has requested a rave to mark the occasion.

For many, the concept of dance music and raves feels like a sport for the young. Fortunately, the music knows no boundaries and Derbyshire resident Hilda Jackson is letting the world know you are never too old to want to dance. As she prepares to celebrate her 105th birthday on February 25th, she has requested that the staff at Holbrook Hall help her throw a rave at the home. For the event, she has requested a DJ, glow sticks, and ultraviolet paint to make the experience as authentic and exciting as possible. Rebecca Wass, the Care Home Manager of the facility provided details of Hilda’s life, including her work in a munitions factory during World War II as well as her passion for playing tennis and travelling.

Talking to the BBC, Wass further discussed the plan for the party, stating that she wasn’t sure where the idea came from but that Hilda Jackson has always “…been a big fan of dancing and living life to the fullest so she wanted to do something to represent that.” The party will have a DJ who will play tracks from throughout the decades and the residents will also be able to make requests throughout the night. To further help ensure a special night for Hilda, the staff at Holbrook Hall has also requested cards from well-wishers.
