Dan Nigro wins Non-Classical Producer of the Year at the 2025 Grammys, outpacing Alissia, Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II, Ian Fitchuk, and Mustard.
Daniel Nigro, an American producer and songwriter, won the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, award at the 2025 Grammys, surpassing competitors such as Alissia (Beyoncé, Charli XCX), Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II (Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars), Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves), and Mustard (Post Malone). His recent work features significant partnerships with Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan, marking his victory in this category for the second consecutive year. He won his first Grammy back in 2022 for his work on Rodrigo’s Best Pop Vocal Album winner, Sour. This year, Nigro received nominations for six Grammys.
Daniel Leonard Nigro or Dan Nigro, was born in 1982 in New York. He was the former lead vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock band As Tall as Lions. He began his musical journey with the band in 2001, releasing several albums before it disbanded in 2010. His work on Chappell Roan’s 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Olivia Rodrigo’s 2024 Guts and Guts (Spilled) likely positioned him ahead of other nominees at the 67th Grammy Awards.
“I’d like to thank my wife, Emily; my daughter, Saoirse; my manager, Ian; Island Records; Interscope; Chappell Roan; Olivia Rodrigo; Dana Meyerson; Sony,” Nigro said during his acceptance speech. “And, lastly, my friend Justin Raisen, who, we grew up together; we started hanging out when we were five years old, and I got him into guitar. He got me into production. We’re both here tonight, I think, because of each other probably, so, thank you.” Said Dan.
