Amelie Lens discusses the excitement of closing Tomorrowland Winter main stage
The rise of techno and female producers certainly owes a debt to the hard rock and incredible output of Amelie Lens. With an already incredible career, she recently had the honor of closing out the Tomorrowland Winter main stage.
For many years, the closing spot at Tomorrowland was reserved for male DJs and producers. Despite the festival’s long run, the coveted closing slots had never been given to a female artist until Charlotte de Witte broke that barrier in 2022. Now, her recent collaborator Amelie Lens is following in her friend’s footsteps and had the opportunity to close out Tomorrowland Winter’s main stage with a similar spot booked for her at this summer’s main event. Following the already iconic set, Lens took to social media to reveal her excitement over the opportunity.
Thanks to its incredible line-ups and stage design, Tomorrowland has emerged as the premier brand for dance music festivals worldwide. That prestige helps to elevate any artist deemed worthy of performing at the annual event, but obviously, the closing sets are held in the highest regard. With Tomorrowland Winter currently in full throttle, Amelie Lens took time to celebrate her historical closing of the festival’s main stage on March 20th. In her online post celebrating the achievement, she says, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d close the Tomorrowland Mainstage. This stage and especially the closing has always been home to legendary EDM Djs and for someone like me, it felt like an impossible dream. But it happened and the stage was packed and full of energy.” It was obviously and incredibly impactful moment for the producer, but she closes with revealing her position closing out the main stage at this summer’s Tomorrowland event!
