Create Music Group (CMG), a powerhouse in the music industry, has acquired the catalogs of electronic music icon deadmau5 and his renowned record label, mau5trap. Valued at over $55 million, this deal includes sound recordings and copyrights for more than 4,000 songs. Beyond the acquisition, CMG and deadmau5 have also formed a joint venture to release new music from the artist and his label, ensuring a dynamic future for both.

With a career spanning over 25 years, deadmau5 has built a massive global fan base through his groundbreaking productions and electrifying live performances. Known offstage as Joel Zimmerman, he has been a relentless advocate for artist rights and ownership. In 2007, he founded mau5trap, a label that has shaped the careers of influential artists such as Skrillex, REZZ, Noisia, Feed Me, and i_o. Over the years, mau5trap has remained at the forefront of electronic music, consistently pushing the genre in new directions.

Zimmerman has continuously embraced emerging technologies, from streaming and social media to gaming, leveraging them to enhance both his brand and mau5trap’s influence. This forward-thinking approach has transformed mau5trap into more than just a label—it has become a movement. By fostering innovation and nurturing new talent, mau5trap has established itself as a respected institution within the dance music industry.

“I have worked closely with Jonathan, Alex, and Create for nearly two decades, growing my own career alongside the artists on mau5trap,” said Zimmerman. “When considering a partner to take everything to the next level, Create was the obvious choice. I know this partnership will help the music reach even more people.”
