Deadmau5 just did it again, reviving one of the most legendary trolls in EDM history at Ultra 2025.

deadmau5 is at it again! If there’s one thing fans love about Joel Zimmerman (besides his music, of course), it’s his ability to troll the EDM scene in the best way possible. And now, over a decade later, deadmau5 brings back one of his most legendary moments: the ‘Old MacDonald Animals‘ troll from Ultra 2014.

For those who don’t remember (or weren’t around for it), here’s a quick recap. Back in 2014, deadmau5 was called in as a last-minute replacement for Avicii at Ultra Music Festival. Rather than just playing a standard set, he decided to have some fun at the expense of one of the biggest tracks of that time—Martin Garrix’s ‘Animals.’ Instead of dropping the song as-is, he mixed it with the children’s nursery rhyme ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm.’ The result? A hilarious, meme-worthy moment that instantly went down in festival history. You can watch that back here.

Deadmau5 even teased the whole thing beforehand on Twitter, saying he was throwing some random bullshit together for the set and adding, “Holy shit, I’m such a dick, this is gonna be awesome.”

And now, in 2025, he’s officially revived it! Performing at Ultra Music Festival once again, he brought back the iconic troll, blending ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm’ with an updated twist on ‘Animals.’

It’s moments like these that remind us why deadmau5 remains one of the most entertaining figures in electronic music. Whether you love him, hate him, or just enjoy a little chaos, you have to respect his ability to shake things up and make people talk. So, if you missed it live, don’t worry—the internet has you covered. And if history has taught us anything, this won’t be the last time he trolls the scene.
