Apple Music has introduced a new feature, DJ with Apple Music, that allows subscribers to build DJ sets from Apple Music's library of over 100 million songs. The feature was already rolled out for Algoriddim's Djay Pro software and now allows integration with AlphaTheta, Serato, InMusic's Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, and Rane DJ.

What is DJ with Apple Music?

The DJ with Apple Music feature allows integration with top DJ software and hardware, but it doesn’t enable DJing within the Apple Music app. Users can now access their Apple Music libraries and playlists within their software and hardware directly. Apple Music states, “Think of it as a sketch pad or a rehearsal space, a home for DJs of any level to master their craft and shape their future sets.”

To celebrate the launch of this new feature, Apple Music has created a new page featuring DJ-friendly editorial playlists to encourage everyone to get started. The playlists span a variety of genres, from House & Techno to Hip-Hop & R&B.

This is not the first time Apple Music has rolled out a feature catered to DJs. They have been working on DJ-friendly capabilities for years, especially with the launch of sets on their platform a few years back. All the Boiler Room and Cercle shows are also available on Apple Music, a great feature that benefits millions worldwide. In December, Apple Music also launched Apple Music Club, a live global radio station with curated DJ mixes.

“Apple Music is committed to supporting DJs,” said Stephen Campbell, global head of dance, electronic & DJ mixes at Apple Music. “With this latest integration, we’re taking that commitment even further – seamlessly connecting Apple Music with the industry’s leading DJ software and hardware. This innovation brings the full power of Apple Music into the creative workflow, making it easier than ever for DJs to access, play, and discover music in real time.”

While this feature was already available on platforms such as Tidal, the integration with Apple Music makes it more convenient for Apple Music users.

Is DJ with Apple Music available now?

Yes, the feature is officially available, and users can now integrate their desired software and hardware with Apple Music through the latest update. For users of rekordbox, ver. 7 introduces new browsing features tailored for streaming services. Users can quickly find tracks in Apple Music’s vast library with the help of artist images and album artwork as a visual reference. New tools that enhance the DJ experience include Streaming Radar, which recommends tracks, and Collaboration Playlist, which lets users share playlists with friends. Users can now seamlessly play songs from Apple Music on compatible AlphaTheta DJ hardware.

To unlock these features, updates were released for rekordbox for Mac/Windows(ver. 7.1.0), rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4.4.0), OMNIS-DUO firmware (ver. 1.21), and XDJ-AZ firmware (ver. 1.21) on March 25, 2025. Check out Apple Music’s new DJ page here.
