John Summit finally released his hotly anticipated collaboration with German singer Inéz, Light Years. Continuing the trend of experimenting with other subgenres, Summit raised the BPM a notch, substantially increasing the usual energy levels expected from him.

Over the last couple of years, John Summit has steadily evolved his sound. From his amazing Sub Focus collaboration Go Back to Gas Pedal with Subtronics and Tape B, he has showcased just how effectively he can mix other subgenres with his signature house style. That same trend continued as Summit flirted with UK garage on his latest fan-favorite record, Light Years. Joining him on Light Years is Inéz, a multi-talented artist hailing from Germany who has previously been featured on tracks by Solomun.

Light Years starts off strong with pumping kicks and a steady bassline. Soon after, Inéz’s vocals are introduced. Throughout the duration of the track, she delivers an emphatic performance. Her vocals are powerful, colorful, and even borderline bratty. The structure of Light Years consists of a fast-paced house beat that is very reminiscent of a UK garage beat. The bassline glides effortlessly without stopping. Inéz’s vocals are, without a doubt, the highlight of the track as her vocals continue to impress even during both drops. All in all, Light Years‘ task is a simple one: to bring out the madness in each and every person who listens to it. And it definitely succeeds in it.

John Summit had a couple of milestone shows recently to test out Light Years. First up, he performed as a support act for Anyma’s final Sphere shows. Afterwards, he held an Experts Only event in Miami during Miami Music Week, and for arguably his biggest milestone, he closed out the mainstage of Ultra Miami on Friday alongside Dom Dolla. The power of John Summit’s fans is once again on display as their tireless dedication led to the swift release.

Light Years by John Summit & Inéz is out now on every major streaming platform.
