The xx back in the studio together, sparking rumours they are to reunite

Fans of The xx have cause to be excited as the trio have revealed that they have spent time in the studio together, stoking rumours that they are to reunite.

The xx fans might not have long to wait for new music with the trio recently revealing that they have been in studio together. Having not released together since their third studio album ‘I See You’ back in 2017, Jamie xx, Romy and Oliver Sim took to social media to hint that new studio output could be on the way from the group.

This fresh insight into their activity adds to the rumours we heard last year that the group could be making music together again. The three of them had been supporting one another with solo projects, but it wasn’t until a recent NME interview that Romy did last year did we know they might be collaborating under The xx once more. Both Romy and Oliver had played a part in producing Jamie’s album ‘In Waves’ last year, and perhaps that has sparked the desire to come together as one again.

Last week they released images on their socials of them together in a studio setting, playing instruments and huddling round a laptop where their creative juices flow. Hopefully this is a positive sign of things to come, as it has been too long since we’ve had new music from them to look forward to.
