One of Brazil's world-famous DJs, Vintage Culture, is now back with a new force in remixing. In his latest composition, he has taken a spin on last year's track Cherry Blossom by the duo Empire of the Sun, featuring Luke Steele.
Lukas Rafael Ruiz Hespanhol, better known as Vintage Culture, is a Brazilian DJ and producer who has achieved many accomplishments in his career. His discography includes hit tracks such as “I Will Find”, “You Give Me A Feeling” and many remixes such as the remix of “Slow Down” based on Jorja Smith’s vocals. He has also headlined several music festivals such as Ultra, Tomorrowland, and the multi-country editions of EDC. Now, he’s back again with a remix to kick off the spring and then summer season. For this one, he looked at “Cherry Blossom”, a track released in 2024 by Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun. The original single takes a look at love and has a powerful meaning, according to Luke Steele, one of the songwriters, “it’s our souls sewing our future”.
This remix by Vintage Culture uses melodic techno as its base genre. As for its length, radio friendliness is not the defining factor here, as it has a playing time of 4 minutes 13 seconds. But that doesn’t naturally mean it can’t spice up the nighttime shows; in fact, the producer undoubtedly intended this reworking for that purpose. The original vocals are very nicely retained, and a nostalgic yet energetic feel is woven over an already superb synth-pop track. With that said, it’s fair to say that Vintage Culture has produced a truly hard-hitting reworking of last year’s track from the duo formed by Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore in 2007. Interestingly, Anyma recently invited Empire of the Sun to Sphere to perform a track.
