In a rare conversation with We Rave You during its first-ever conference last November with TURF in Breda, Arny Bink—CEO and Co-Founder of Black Hole Recordings—shared key moments from the label’s journey, which he launched alongside Tiësto back in 1997. From humble beginnings to global acclaim, the label has remained rooted in artistic integrity.

Initially, Black Hole Recordings was created solely to release Tiësto’s music and compilations. However, as Arny recalled, it quickly evolved into a creative hub for local talent in Breda before expanding internationally to feature acts like BT and Paul Oakenfold. “I wouldn’t sign music because it sells,” Arny emphasized. “I would sign music because it’s good.” This guiding principle continues to shape the label’s roster.

As the conversation turned to Tiësto’s impact, Arny highlighted the trailblazing steps his former partner took. From being the first DJ to host a solo stadium concert to producing a live concert DVD with 24 HD cameras, Tiësto’s vision pushed boundaries and paved the way for future stars like Hardwell and Dannic.

Toward the end, Arny also offered practical advice for aspiring artists navigating today’s complex industry, encouraging them to focus on authenticity over trends.
