DANNIC reflects on his journey, Fonk Recordings, and what’s ahead: Watch

In a candid interview with We Rave You during its inaugural conference last November in Breda together with TURF, Dutch powerhouse DANNIC opened up about his evolution, both personal and professional. Nearly two decades into his career, he continues to push boundaries while staying true to his roots.

Speaking about his early days, DANNIC shared how his longtime friendship with Hardwell shaped his path. “At the time, Robbert was already touring and releasing music, while I was still DJing locally,” he recalled. Their connection ran deep, with music ideas exchanged via MSN Messenger—until Hardwell delivered a life-changing message: “Dude, quit your job and come on tour with me. We’ll see where it ends.”

As the conversation progressed, DANNIC traced his artistic growth—from creating mashups and bootlegs to refining a signature sound. Today, his music blends mainstage energy with a groove-driven edge, a style that came together naturally over time.

He also touched on the origins of his label, Fonk Recordings. Built under the wing of Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, the label emerged from a desire to give young talent the same kind of chance DANNIC once received. “Robbert got his break from Tiësto, and Robbert gave me mine. Now I want to pass it on,” he explained.
