Don Diablo celebrates 10 years of HEXAGON with HEXAGON 2.0 and new track ‘Freek Like Me’
Constantly being at the forefront of future house music, Hexagon has always redefined itself over the last 10 years. For the next 10, Don Diablo is introducing a brand new “version” of the label, Hexagon 2.0. As well as the exciting launch, the head honcho released Freek Like Me, a worthy introduction to a new era.
Over the last 10 years, Don Diablo has successfully turned his label HEXAGON from an ambitious project to the biggest label in future house music. Alongside the main imprint, HEXAGON has introduced many different sublabels over the years, such as the talent label Generation Hex and Hexhibition. A decade of dominating not only the future house space but the whole electronic music scene has led Don Diablo to redefine the formula that gave him so much success. Simply dubbed HEXAGON 2.0, the legendary label promises to deliver some substantial changes for the next decade.
The vision of HEXAGON 2.0 is very simple. They are planning to deliver fewer releases with a focus on bringing quality over quantity, and hopefully, for them, more impact. One recurring issue fans had with the label over the years was the oversaturation of weekly releases. The label has listened and will now move on with a new strategy. Don Diablo himself has kick-started this brand new era with a new release titled Freek Like Me, which fuses a catchy hook alongside a strong four-on-the-floor house beat and slick piano synths. Influences of UK garage and house are present in this new offering. Don had nothing but words of gratitude for the last 10 years, as he said:
“Over the past 10 years, HEXAGON has grown into a global platform – not just a label but a movement, a family, and a launchpad for new talent. We’ve had the honor of working with legends such as Major Lazer, Robbie Williams, MK, Jamiroquai, Galantis, Gucci Mane, and Felix Jaehn while helping to shape the sound of a new generation. But as we celebrate ten years, it’s also time for a reset. We’re entering a new era where quality needs to win over quantity. Freek Like Me marks the start of HEXAGON 2.0 – a new chapter where every release is more intentional, more meaningful, and designed to truly connect with people, not just feed the algorithm. We’ve built something special with HEXAGON. Ten years in, and I truly believe the best is yet to come.”
Don Diablo also stated that one of his biggest achievements came because of HEXAGON. In 2020, he was named the most supported producer in the world on 1001Tracklists. A year later, his album FORΞVΞR crossed a billion streams, all thanks to HEXAGON. And while all of this might seem like the end of HEXAGON as we know it, HEXAGON 2.0 has a lot in store for the future. As Don Diablo himself says time and time again, “house is the future, and the future is house”.
