The island of Ibiza has exploded in popularity in recent years thanks to its picturesque landscape and vibrant collection of world-class clubs. Now, the region’s Director of Tourism is hoping to find a way for Americans to reach the region more efficiently.

Juan Miguel Costa, the Director of Tourism in Ibiza, has overseen the massive influx of tourists in recent years and seems to believe that Americans deserve a more direct way to reach the region. At this time, travelers from the United States require a layover in the region before they can make it to the island region. With Ibiza witnessing record sales figures and tourists in recent years, this seems like a logical option to reach an even bigger audience.

Initial plans see officials looking to New York, Atlanta, and Miami as ideal hubs for a direct flight from the USA. It’s a process that all involved recognize will not happen overnight, but Costa has cited the support from major hotel brands as a positive step in the right direction. Further looking to push the issue, Ibiza officials are also working with popular booking entities such as Expedia and Booking.com to find support and help curate travel packages to make the venture more worthwhile.
