Rock & Roll Hall of Fame announces 2025 inductees
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced their inductees from the class of 2025 including OutKast, The White Stripes, and others.
As an artist, one of the biggest honors that you can achieve is to one day be inducted into the Rock & Roll of Fame. Don’t be deterred by the name, just because it sounds like it applies to one specific genre, the hall is meant for all who have made a significant impact in their genre. When it comes to electronic music, in recent years, groups such as Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode have found their rightful place in the hall. Now it’s time to welcome in a new class as the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame officially announced its 2025 inductees.
Included in the performer category are the English rock band Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, OutKast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes. Chubby Checker is known predominately for his 1958 hit ‘The Twist.‘ With the induction of OutKast, it marks the sixth straight year in which a rap group or solo artist has been inducted into the hall. The Atlanta duo, comprised of André 3000 and Big Boi, is widely considered a top-five hip-hop group in history. The White Stripes (Jack White and Meg White) are known for their 2003 album ‘Elephant‘ in which their most successful track ‘Seven Nation Army‘ resides. The track has gained over two billion streams and continues to have a huge cultural impact in many genres, a big one being DJ sets, even 20 years later.
Outside of the performer category, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame also gives out a Musical Influence Award, a Musical Excellence Award, and the Ahmet Ertegun Award. The two recipients of the 2025 Musical Influence Award are the female hip-hop trio, Salt-N-Pepa and famed singer-songwriter, Warren Zevon. Three individuals will receive the Musical Excellence Award including producer Thom Bell, piano session musician Nicky Hopkins who has appeared on over 250 albums, and bassist Carol Kaye. The Ahmet Ertegun Award celebrates a non-performer who has had a major impact in music and this year it will go to Lenny Waronker, a former A&R head and president of Warner Bros.
No electronic acts were selected this year. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will take place on November 8th at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles. Check out the official list here.
