Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp have released their album ‘True Electric’

Röyksopp has opened a truly new chapter, one that has taken them back to their roots. The band released their new album, “True Electric”, on 11 April, and it is now available on most streaming platforms and in physical format.

“Happy «True Electric» day, good people! We hope you enjoy this new album filled with recordings and renditions aimed to capture the essence and energy of our live shows bearing the same name.”, shared Röyksopp on the release day.

Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp kicked off the last few months with a big surprise for their fans and fans of their music. Although they announced back in 2014 that “Inevitable End” would be their last album, they never stopped. When their new LP came out in 2022, in response to a question in an earlier interview, they also revealed that they had almost slipped back into being producers “via the ventilation system”. And that process hasn’t stopped since, so much so that on Friday, they released a 19-track album on their own UK label, Dog Triumph. Their project, called “True Electric”, is opened by the nearly 6-minute track “The Ladder” on both discs. Yes, two discs have been released, one with mixed versions of the same segments as on the original.

The “True Electric” LP was unexpectedly announced back in January in conjunction with a major tour. Along with this announcement, the band released the track “What Else Is There?”, a facelift of their original 2005 release featuring vocals by Fever Ray. Speaking of which, other interesting tracks are reworkings of the old ones, such as “Monument” and “The Girl and the Robot”. This is not a question, as the duo members Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge have openly stated that they want to return to their roots. By this, they also mean bringing a more clubby aspect to their music to enhance the experience of their current shows. The album also features “Do It Again”, which is also a reinterpretation of the original in a house style soundscape. And yes, it can certainly be claimed that it has turned out to be a very energetic album in this respect.
