Skrillex has gone on X to criticize ticket scalpers who took advantage of fans trying to purchase tickets for his Red Rocks show during the general sale today. It’s beyond upsetting and makes me feel terribly,” states Skrillex.

As many live events goers know, ticket scalping has been a problem for decades. And, with the constant evolution of technology over the last 8 years the situation has gotten extremely worse. Countless bots and professional scammers collect a large number of tickets before real fans can have the opportunity to purchase and sell them back to those who want to go at some times 8 or 9 times above the face value price or steal their money without giving any tickets at all. This sad scheme occurred once again today as the general on-sale for the Skrillex Red Rocks show took place. Off the back of a new album release, he announced he will be returning to the legendary venue once again in May. The event sold out in a few minutes and many were left ticketless, but not because other fans got them, it was because scalpers took the lot.

Thus started a frenzy on X as those in search of tickets were being taken advantage of by scalpers, some of which were being asked to send over $500 for a single ticket, while others experienced paying $300 only to find out the entire transaction was fake. This caused Skrillex himself to jump on X and criticize those who were using his show to take advantage of his fans. “I’m sorry to the people who try to buy my tickets get taken advantage of by scalpers. It’s beyond upsetting and makes me feel terribly,“ states Skrillex. “My #1 focus before I ever book a tour again is to see how we can do much better at this. Sorry Again.“ Skrillex went on to state that they working on doing what they can to get tickets into real fans’ hands and that he will suggest ideas on how to fix the problem in the future.

Two years ago, the superstar DJ held the same event at Red Rocks in which he played a 5-hour set, and the on-sale was also taken advantage of then in which Skrillex sent out a message that stated they recovered some of the tickets and gave fans an authentication link to register to purchase what was left. Some tickets are currently being sold at over $1,000 on the secondary market. If you do want to buy a resale ticket, make sure to only purchase Red Rocks tickets through their official ticketing portal here.

Skrillex brings back his 5-hour Red Rocks show on May 13th. Doors open at 6:00 and he will begin playing at 6:30. View Skrillex’s tweets from today below.
