Carl Craig has announced the official soundtrack to the upcoming documentary Desire: The Carl Craig Story, a project that traces his journey from Detroit’s creative underground to international acclaim. Set for release via his own Planet E Recordings, the soundtrack brings together selections from across his decades-spanning catalog—including rare and previously unavailable material.

To mark the occasion, Craig has reissued his landmark 1991 track “No More Words” in digital format for the very first time. Originally pressed on vinyl over three decades ago, the track reflects the early blueprint of Detroit techno with its stripped-down arrangement and emotional intensity. Its return today signals not only a tribute to the past but a reminder of the movement Craig helped shape.

Meanwhile, the film itself—directed by Jean-Cosme Delaloye and produced by Sovereign Films—lands in 30 theaters across the UK and Ireland on May 8. Through archival footage, interviews, and personal insights, Desire paints a compelling portrait of a figure whose work has bridged music, fashion, and art. From his collaboration with Bottega Veneta to his museum-acquired installation Party/After-Party, Craig’s reach has extended far beyond club culture.

With appearances from Gilles Peterson, Roni Size, Laurent Garnier, DJ Minx, and more, the documentary also confronts the erasure of Black artists in electronic music’s mainstream narrative-reaffirming Carl Craig’s role in elevating Detroit’s Black creative legacy.
