Charlotte de Witte brings surprise set to Williamsburg Bridge
Charlotte de Witte delivered a rare, unannounced performance in the heart of New York City this week, turning the Williamsburg Bridge into an open-air dancefloor. After casually stumbling upon a similar event on the bridge last year, she returned in full force – this time behind the decks, playing a one-hour set to a tightly packed crowd.
The Belgian DJ shared her excitement online, thanking fans for braving the unpredictable weather and calling the moment “beautiful chaos.” Rain didn’t stop the party. In fact, when showers rolled in mid-set, one fan even handed her an umbrella so she could keep playing without pause. Eventually, the booth got a proper cover – but by then, the energy had already spiked.
Throughout the set, Charlotte de Witte blended tough techno grooves with unexpected twists, including a reimagined version of Scoop’s trance-era classic Drop It, as well as Enrico Sangiuliano’s recent peak-time weapon The Techno Code. While the setting was far from a packed arena or festival stage, the energy felt just as powerful. In videos circulating online, she appeared fully immersed, smiling throughout, as if feeding off the closeness of the crowd.
Although this wasn’t a major headlining slot, the show carried a unique charm. With the city skyline in view and the raw vibe of an unsanctioned rave, it offered something more personal – and from the way she responded, de Witte enjoyed every moment of it.
