Fender Studio: A New Free DAW for Mobile Music Makers
Fender has just released a new app called Fender Studio. It’s a free software that helps people record and create music. It works like a digital audio workstation (DAW) in a manner similar to GarageBand.
Fender Studio is made for easy use. You can plug your guitar or mic into an audio interface and start playing. The app has many digital versions of real Fender amps, like the ’65 Twin Reverb, the ’59 Bassman, the Rumble 800, the Super-Sonic, and more. These amp models help your instrument sound like it’s going through a real amp.
There are also lots of built-in effects, based on Fender’s popular pedals. There are things like reverb, tremolo, tape delay, flanger, compressor, distortion, and overdrive. A vocal transformer, a vocoder, a de-tuner, and other basic tools like EQ and delay ensure that vocals can be processed too.
For practice, Fender Studio includes jam tracks in different music styles. You can mute instruments in the track and play along, slow down, or speed up the song.
On the technical side, you can record up to 16 separate tracks in one project. It supports input monitoring, looping, global transpose, time-stretching, and shifting. You can also add track fades and FX sends. The mobile app has pinch-to-zoom, so it’s easier to see your tracks on small screens. Fender Studio works on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, and even Chromebooks. While it’s free to use, some features require a Fender account.
This isn’t Fender’s first digital tool — they’ve also made the Mustang Micro mini amp and the Fender Link I/O audio interface. But Fender Studio DAW is their biggest move yet into digital music creation.
Fender Studio is available now on Android, iOS, Windows & Linux.
