James Hype celebrates massive show 15 minutes from home

Getting to play in front of 35,000 fans is an incredible accomplishment on its own, but for James Hype, the experience was even more special as the show occurred just a few minutes from where he grew up. Taking place at the BBC 1 Big Weekend in Liverpool, Hype was able to bring his family along and experience the love and affection from his hometown crowd. Playing through an eclectic yet high-energy set, he was able to revel in the moment, sharing some key photos from the day and giving a bit of insight into his mom's hopes for his early career choices.

With an incredible touch on the CDJs, James Hype has earned international acclaim in recent years for his live shows and infectious productions. Now he is celebrating a massive show just a few minutes from his hometown.

In the post shared to Instagram, Hype discusses the honor of getting chosen to play the mainstage and shares some heartwarming words about the whole experience. He writes, ‘This is my Mum. She had to wanted me to go to university and get a proper job. Imagine how this feels bringing my whole family to see me play to 35,000 people 15 minutes from where I grew up. Thank you Mum for being patient! Thank you @bbcradio1 for inviting me to be a part of this 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️.’ Between his words and the photos, the joy, love, and appreciation are apparent for James Hype as well as his mother. This is certainly a nice break for the producer in between his recent battles with deadmau5, both onstage and online.
