Martial Simon delivers infectious new single ‘Shake’: Listen
The use of nostalgia is a powerful feeling when utilized properly. Leaning into the rhythms and rhymes of youth, Martial Simon has taken a simple children’s game and turned it into a club banger.
Hailing from New York City, Martial Simon emerged on the scene in 2021 and has continued to push his career to new heights. With featured spots on BBC Radio and an official remix for Jared Leto’s rock venture, 30 Seconds to Mars, on his resume, he has been a force in the industry. For his latest offering, Shake, he finds himself on the Disco Fries’ imprint, Liftoff Recordings, with a driving house anthem built around a popular children’s game.
Built around a sample of the Hokey Pokey, the famous children’s game, the music and voice seem to emerge from yesteryear, feeling almost out of place with it’s ancient horns and vocal pattern. Still, Martial Simon perfectly blends this into his modern production. As the voice says, “You put your right hand in and shake…” the track explodes into a club banger with giant synths and stabs, quickly transporting listeners back to the modern day for this instant classic.
