Sophie Ellis-Bextor announces eighth album ‘Perimenopop’
After a record-breaking year, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is stepping into a new chapter. Her eighth studio album, Perimenopop, will arrive on September 12th, celebrating personal growth, musical freedom, and her enduring bond with pop and disco. To mark the release, Sophie will headline a special launch event at London’s KOKO on September 8th, just days before the album lands.
With collaborators MNEK and Jon Shave, Sophie co-wrote the upbeat new single ‘Taste’, now available. This vibrant release follows the success of earlier tracks like ‘Freedom of the Night’, ‘Relentless Love‘, and ‘Vertigo‘, all featured on the album. According to Sophie, the song explores the addictive magic of shared chemistry – when someone’s preferences light up every sense.
Notably, Perimenopop comes during a remarkable resurgence. Earlier this year, her classic ‘Murder on the Dancefloor‘ soared back up the charts after its inclusion in the film Saltburn, earning her new Platinum milestones and racking up billions of streams. The renewed momentum led to performances across New York’s Times Square, the BBC’s NYE Disco show, and major festival appearances – including a memorable collaboration with Peggy Gou at Glastonbury.
Following a successful tour this spring, Sophie will take Perimenopop on the road again across Europe later this year, with tickets for her KOKO show going on pre-sale May 14th, and general sale May 16th.
