Arturia’s Mix DRUMS Plugin Targets Cleaner Drum Mixes

Arturia has launched a new plugin called Mix DRUMS, made to help music producers get better drum mixes without needing lots of gear or deep technical skills.

Mix engineer Emre Ramazanoglu helped create Mix DRUMS. He has worked with major artists like Brian Eno and Lily Allen. The plugin shapes drums to keep the low-end strong and the top-end clean for a polished, balanced sound. The plugin separates your drum signal into two bands: low and mid/high. That way, you can treat things like the kick and toms differently from snares and cymbals. For example, you can add more punch to the kick while keeping the cymbals crisp.

It has an auto-gain feature that helps keep your signal loud without going over the limit. There’s also a final clipper that makes sure your drums don’t distort at the end of the chain.

Each part of the drum sound can be adjusted with:

• Distortion and warmth for low-end drums

• Tape and tube-style effects for higher parts

• Transient control to sharpen or smooth the hits

• Simple EQ tools to adjust tone

There’s also a reverb and delay section, plus a noise feature that adds old-school sounds like vinyl crackle. You get 92 presets to choose from, based on genre and how you want the effect. That means you can just pick one and go, or tweak it yourself.
