AutoMix added to Apple Music in iOS 26 Update
Apple is adding a new feature to Apple Music in iOS 26 called AutoMix. Instead of tracks stopping and starting suddenly, it adjusts the tempo and rhythm to make transitions feel more natural. It’s similar to how a DJ mixes songs.
The AutoMix feature appeared in the first developer beta of iOS 26 and is expected to be in the public beta in July. It works with iPhones starting from the iPhone 11 and doesn’t need Apple Intelligence or any cloud-based tools. It’s a local feature that you can turn on or off in the Now Playing screen of the Apple Music app.
This feature is aimed at users who like smooth transitions between songs. When iOS 26 officially launches this fall, AutoMix will be turned on by default for all Apple Music subscribers. However, they can disable it if they prefer. Spotify also has a similar feature called DJ. Using AI, it creates a mix of songs that feels personally curated. Apple’s AutoMix is simpler: it just helps the music play without gaps. Still, for many listeners, this could improve the way they enjoy music.
iOS 26 also brings other updates, like real-time lyrics translation, pinned playlists, and smoother animations. But for everyday listeners, AutoMix might be the feature that stands out the most.
