Benny Benassi hit ‘Satisfaction’ turns 23

Shortly after the turn of the century, with the musical landscape shifting with new technology, Benny Benassi would emerge. The producer released his first single in June of 2002, forever leaving his mark on dance music.

Whether a devoted fan of electronic music or not, Satisfaction is a track that broke the boundaries of the culture and exploded into the mainstream. First released in Italy in June of 2002 by Benny Benassi, it would serve as the lead single of his debut album, Hypnotica. Although it would also remain the highest charting song of his career, it was powerful and enduring enough to launch the Italian producer’s career.

Now, 23 years later, Satisfaction remains a staple of the dance music landscape and has even received recent remixes from the likes of Hardwell and David Guetta. Built around the robotically mixed male and female vocals, Benassi added an iconic synth progression that would launch a new era of house music. Two separate videos were shot for the track, the first a more muted concept based on the album cover, while the second would earn regular rotation in late-night hours. Filled with scantily clad models, it delivers a series of faux power tool advertisements.
