Diplo issued with €300,000 fine over illegal event in Ibiza last year

Following the organisation and participation in an event that has now been officially deemed as illegal, American DJ and record producer Diplo has been issued with a 300,000€ fine by the Ibiza City Council. Held at one of the most scenic spots on the White Isle, the Cala D’Hort viewpoint, and overlooking the protected Es Vedrà natural park, the event took place at the end of July last year, and with videos making rounds all over social media, it was not long until the local authorities were informed, leading to an investigation that has now concluded, almost a whole year after the event took place.

Causing quite the controversy with the illegal event that took place in Ibiza last July, American DJ and record producer Diplo has been issued with a 300,000€ fine in accordance to an investigation held by local authorities.

Condemned for its potential impact on the fragile environment surrounding the area, and with the place in which the event was held being protected by the European Union through the Natura 2000 Network, as well as various other figures of environmental protection, it only makes further sense that local authorities would not tolerate any unauthorised events, leading now of course, to the legal sanction faced by Diplo for this specific matter. Promoting in their own words, the risk of fires, noise problems, waste and of course, endangering the integrity of all in attendance, the event has been under scrutiny ever since its occurrence, resulting in a negative public reaction from everyone closely associated with Ibiza, and the preservation of its natural habitat.

Acknowledging both the occurrence of the event, as well as the fine associated with holding an illegal “party,” Diplo has not further commented on the incident itself, and as we await to see his response, if there will be one of course; we now know that the event has been deemed as illegal and that the Sant Josep de sa Talaia City Council has fined Diplo the staggering amount of 300,000€.
