John Reid, of Nightcrawlers fame, has passed away

The history and growth of house music through the years are thanks to many pioneering voices and artists. One of those key figures is John Reid, whose legendary voice and songwriting were staples of the genre.

John Reid, who rose to prominence in the early 90s, worked with the Nightcrawlers, has tragically passed away at the age of 61. After signing with Island Records’ 4th and Broadway imprint, he helped the group find success on the American charts with their second single Push The Feeling On. The track found an audience thanks to Marc Kinchen‘s remix of the track. The iconic remix cemented the success of John Reid as he would continue to write and produce for himself and many other artists.

As a singer and songwriter, his reach extended far across the industry. John Reid famously wrote Tina Turner’s hit When The Heartache Is Over, Kelly Clarkson’s A Moment Like This, and tracks for Rod Stewart.
