Madonna revives long-shelved Veronica Electronica with rare remixes from Ray of Light era

More than two decades after its initial conception, Veronica Electronica finally emerges. Madonna originally planned the project as a remix companion to Ray of Light in 1998, but the overwhelming success of the album quickly pushed it aside. Still, the idea never vanished—it lived on through fan conversations, unreleased tracklists, and label archives.

The release also arrives on limited-edition silver vinyl as part of the Silver Collection, a curated series of collectible reissues. Fans who order through Madonna.com or Rhino.com will receive an exclusive silver mylar lithograph. To mark the announcement, Madonna dropped the remix edit of the deep cut “Skin (The Collaboration Remix Edit)” today.

The eight-track release includes updated versions of remixes by Peter Rauhofer, William Orbit, Sasha, BT, and Victor Calderone—names closely associated with the era’s dancefloor aesthetics. In addition, the tracklist offers the original demo of “Gone, Gone, Gone,” a previously unheard collaboration between Madonna and Rick Nowels.

While Ray of Light earned four GRAMMY® Awards and sold over 16 million copies globally, this belated companion finally gives fans a glimpse into the alternate path the era might have taken. Through this release, Madonna not only honors a key creative moment but also continues to explore and reshape her legacy in real time.
