Home Tech Sennheiser goes all-in on Pro Audio’s Future

Sennheiser is officially all-in on pro audio. After selling off its consumer headphone division in 2022, the company has made it clear where it’s headed. It’s focused on gear for studios, live shows, broadcasters, and business comms. So far, the numbers say it’s working.

In 2023, Sennheiser pulled in €527.2 million in revenue. That’s up from €467.7 million in 2022 — a solid 12.7% increase. And it marks the third year in a row of growth. Most of the lift came from Europe, but North America and APAC held their ground too.

Co-CEOs Andreas and Daniel Sennheiser say the progress comes from sticking to what they do best. By narrowing their focus to Pro Audio, Business Communication, and the Neumann brand , they’ve cleared the deck for what’s next.

And what’s next seems to be a lot of R&D. In 2023, they put €46 million into product development ranging from wireless audio tech to cloud systems to AI-powered tools.

Sennheiser also invested heavily in its plants in Germany and Romania, putting €17.5 million with another €4.5 million into making their logistics and operations run smoother. Less drama in the supply chain means fewer headaches when you’re trying to get mics and systems where they need to go!!

They’re also building up in spatial audio, wireless systems like Spectera, and enterprise audio tools. Sennheiser’s 2022 acquisition of Swiss audio firm Merging Technologies supports this push.

So no, you won’t be seeing new Sennheiser headphones at your local electronics store. But if you’re mixing a live show, setting up a broadcast rig, or trying to upgrade the audio in your boardroom, chances are Sennheiser’s in the picture. And it’s probably staying there.
